Following the successful delivery of a Smart Bus Shelter the ng Connect team of Downer, Nokia, Solta and DesignBrand shifted their focus to wider applications and the civic space. The initial focus was to develop a smart pole but the team could see the value in developing a solution that is easily retrofitted to existing infrastructure – transferring a civil asset from static to active, making it smart! The result – CITiPULSE.

Downer is a leading provider of engineering and infrastructure management services, providing solutions to customers operating in various market sectors of ICT, Property and Facilities, Transportation, Water and Waste Water, Energy, Industrial, and Contract Mining. Downer part-funded and co-owns the development of the CITiPULSE with Nokia.

Nokia is a multinational communications and information technology company. They are a major contributor to the smartphone industry and now is focused on their telecommunications infrastructure business. Nokia part-funded and co-owns the development of the CITiPULSE with Downer.

Solta Labs is a software development business with specific focus on the development of mobile applications and platforms in a rapidly emerging smart device market. The team at Solta has development expertise in mobile solutions; this encompasses apps for smart devices and the cloud services to support these apps. Solta’s experience is in several core segments of the smart device market including mobile payment applications and connections, interactive and passive digital signage platforms and back office services for mobile apps, digital signs/kiosks and IoT. Solta delivered the user interface design and configuration for CITiPULSE.

DesignBrand is an innovative design and manufacturing company specialising in public asset creation. The DesignBrand product range is designed for manufacturing technologies, creating high quality, affordable solutions to fulfil local authority demands for bus shelters and public furniture. DesignBrand designed and built the CITiPULSE housing and structure.
